1. HIONOMOTO HANPU Canvas Backpack (18,900 yen)
I came across this classic canvas backpack during an escapade to 谷中銀座商店街 (Yanaka-ginza shopping district) in 日暮里 (Nippori station) after finding this poster. At their store, they had a comparison of their canvas backpack in brand new conditions vs after 10 years of use. I love these kind of brands that can really promise the high quality of their products.
2. emamima DESK bag
I fell in love with the concept of having an emergency sake/liquor kit in a stylish bag made of leather and marble washi paper. The wooden flap becomes a desk and it even comes with a little cushion to sit on! I had a chance to speak with the designer and loved it even more! Her other products such as "SUKIKOMI" which capsulizes her is also worth checking out.
3. KAPITAL compressed wool scarf (14,904 yen)
I'd been interested in getting to know the well known Japanese denim brand "KAPITAL" after reading about it on Ponytail Journal but had chickened out when I saw the overwhelmingly cool entrance of their Ebisu store. I recently walked into their Roppongi Hills store unknowingly and could not go home without this cute bandana designed scarf!
They have countless designs of their compressed wool scarf which they have been releasing every winter for over a decade. It's perfect for the cold Tokyo weather we've recently been having (uhmm hello? what happened to autumn?).
4. LEVI'S Vintage Denim
Ever since reading the book "Ametora: How Japan Saved American Style" I've been interested in the history of LEVI'S jeans. I recently found the perfect pair of customized vintage 502's at my favorite vintage storePASS THE BATON and I've gotten back on my little research expedition.
For starters, Just type in "levis 501 history" and you'll find so many cool charts comparing the looks and materials of levis jeans from different eras.
5. styling/ velvet coat (59,400 yen)
Found this beautiful effortless velvet coat in the window display of their Omotesando Hills store during Tokyo Fashion's Night Out. It's in the most beautiful shades of pink and beige (they've also got black), with a classical look but not "out-of-date" vintage. Boyish lab coat-ish shape, but feminine when someone wheres it. It seems this coat has now been sold out so I'm still on the hunt for the perfect velvet coat!
