Here's a new section of our blog that we've been meaning to post for a long time!
Kaoru and I have different jobs during the week so every weekend, we meet up to catch up. We always learn so many new things from each other so we just wanted to share 3 new finds with you!
TV show that Kana enjoyed called "Document 72hrs" and the episode "When a man polishes his shoe"
Its a documentary program by NHK where they interview modern day Tokyo-ites. In this his specific episode, they stayed with a shoe-shiner in Ginza and interviewed the many shoe owners that visit him for 3 days.
One guy was working in a factory in Okayama for a few years, and recently got sent back to Tokyo to
work at his company's head office. Back when he was a newbie, he bought really expensive leather shoes- almost too nice「見栄を張っていた」, but he finally feels he's worked hard enough to meet the standard of the shoes and brought it out from his closet.
Another guy lived in Europe in the 90's for work, and noticed how people there would determine a person's sophistication by their shoes, so since then he's taken good special care and attention on his shoes when it comes to fashion.
What interesting perceptions and stories people have with shoes!
That's all for now! Happy weekend from cloudy Tokyo ;)
