Still chilly here in Tokyo, but we managed to get out and visit YAYOI KUSAMA: My Eternal Soul Exhibition at the National Art Center, TOKYO.
I always love visiting this museum whenever I get to pass by during the sunset on the way back to the station - interior and exterior architecture is just so beautiful! But this day was YAYOI-fied inside and out. Trees outside the museum were wrapped with Yayoi Kusama's iconic dot patterns and inside was filled with gigantic vivid colorful square artworks all over the main exhibition space. We instantly thought if anyone from Hermès were visiting, they probably could collaborate and make a beautiful and unique scarf! I only knew her recent dotted designs but it was interesting to also learn how she coped with severe psychological delusion through her art. We were only allowed to take photos of her current works but much older art pieces really seemed to reflect on her difficult days... 9 more days and she's 89 years old! If you have two hours or so to spare, definitely a must visit exhibition for some eye-popping experience :)
